The Muizenberg SAPS is committed to weed out crime to secure a safe environment.

Members of the Muizenberg Crime Prevention Unit were busy with routine patrols in Berg Street, Vrygrond when they noticed a known member of a local gang. The suspect, upon seeing the police, fled with SAPS members giving chase. Whilst fleeing, the suspect fired on the policemen and managed to evade arrest.

In a follow-up operation, the CPU approached a house in Drury Road after receiving information where the suspect was hiding.
The members then proceeded with a thorough search of the residence and seized an unlicensed 9mm semi automatic pistol and 39 rounds of ammunition.

Two suspects were arrested and detained at the Muizenberg Police Station and will be appearing in the Muizenberg Magistrate’s Court.

Muizenberg SAPS would like to encourage the community to continue to provide information that leads to these successes.
