Truck driver critically injured in Middelburg collision

A man in his fifties was critically injured when two trucks collided head-on along the N4 in Middleburg, Mpumalanga today.

Responding ER24 paramedics arrived on scene and discovered that the patient had sustained suspected chest injuries and a partially amputated right arm. He was transported to a nearby hospital for urgent medical care.

The driver of the second truck was left uninjured in the collision.

The exact circumstances leading to the collision are unclear however paramedics were told that the first truck lost control and veered into the oncoming traffic lane resulting in the head on collision.

The incident is under investigation by authorities.
