Two killed in Kimberley truck collision

Two people were killed when an articulated truck collided with their Ford Focus at the R31 and N12 intersection in Kimberley last night.

At approximately 22:30 paramedics from ER24 arrived on the scene where they found the horrific collision where a truck collided into the passenger side of the Ford Focus at the intersection. Upon further assessment they [paramedics] found that one person was killed on impact and two others were in a critical condition.

Paramedics immediately called for Fire and Rescue Services to assist with the trapped victims. Once freed, paramedics were able to fully assess their injuries and found that they had to act quickly and rushed them through to a nearby hospital for further treatment. Sadly one of the occupants died shortly after arrival at hospital. It is understood that one of the occupants still remain in a critical condition in intensive care.

The driver of the truck was not injured in this incident.

At this stage the cause of the collision is not yet clear and was handed over to local authorities for investigation.
