Three people have sustained various injuries after the taxi they were in collided into the back of a truck on South Coast Road before the N2 near Umlazi just after 6am.
Rescue Care paramedics arrived to find the driver severely entrapped in the wreckage. Rescue services were called to assist and once the patient had been stabilized the Fire Department used the jaws of life and other hydraulic equipment to cut the driver free. He had sustained serious injuries and needed Advanced Life Support assistance to stabilize him. Once he had been stabilized he was taken to a nearby hospital for the further care that he required. Two of his passengers had sustained minor injuries and were also transported to a nearby hospital for further care that they required.
At this stage it is unclear what caused the collision however SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.
