A thirty-one-year0old female tragically died soon after arriving at hospital after she was hit by a vehicle that fled the scene in Chatterton Drive near the Bird sanctuary in Pietermaritzburg this morning. Reports from the scene indicate that the vehicle that hit the female had left the scene and then was involved in another accident after rounding a traffic circle.
Netcare 911 paramedics arrived at the scene and found the patient to have sustained life threatening injuries. The patient went into cardiac arrest at the scene and paramedics worked fervently to resuscitate her. After some time they managed to stabilise the critically wounded lady, after she was placed on a ventilator they transported the patient to a nearby hospital for further care, tragically she died soon after her arrival.
