Two people were injured, one critically so, after two vehicles collided head-on along the road to Odendaalsrus this afternoon at around 12h00. Exact detail to the cause of the accident and preceding events will remain a subject for police investigation and comment.
Netcare 911 paramedics arrived at the scene and found a female still trapped in the twisted frame of her vehicle with critical injuries. The other patient had sustained serious injuries. While firemen used the Jaws of Life to free the female paramedics clambered into the wreckage to stabilise her.
After the patient was extricated and immobilised on a trauma board they transported her to a hospital under the constant care of an advanced life support paramedic. The other patient was treated on scene and then transported to a local hospital for further care.
