Paramedics from KZN Emergency Medical Services and a private ambulance service are currently on scene on the R102 near Tongaat.
The paramedics are treating a female patient who has sustained critical injuries after being hit by a motor vehicle.
Due to the nature of the injuries that she has sustained the assistance from the air ambulance was requested and at the time of this report being released the department of health air ambulance had just landed near the scene to assist the paramedics and airlift the patient to Inkhosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital where there is a trauma team waiting to receive her.
The Police who are also on scene will be investigating the incident
