Netcare 911 paramedics and other services responded to an accident on the N1 north bound near the Lynnwood offramp in Lynnwood, Pretoria this afternoon.
Upon their arrival on scene they found a light delivery vehicle with two occupants had rear-ended a heavy goods vehicle.
The driver of the light delivery vehicle tragically lost his life and the male passenger was found to be in a critical condition.
The twenty-one year old critically injured man was airlifted to hospital with the Netcare1 helicopter for the urgent medical care that he required.
Exact detail to the cause of the accident and preceding events will remain the subject of a police investigation.
