The accident occurred in the Ilembe health district of KZN, near the Oqaqeni clinic in the Maphumulo area and involved a venture type vehicle, which had been carrying multiple passengers.
Calls regarding the accident, which occurred at around 06h 00 this morning, indicated that there were many patients, who had been injured in the accident. As a result the KZN EMS Emergency Call Management Centre dispatched paramedics, on board several ambulances and response vehicles to the accident.
Paramedics, arrived on scene to discover that tragically two people had sustained fatal injuries, while another 16 patients had sustained mostly serious injuries. The paramedics worked frantically together to treat and stabilize the patients, before transporting them to Maphumulo hospital for ongoing medical care.
The cause of the accident and the event preceding the accident are being investigated by the police.
