Tongaat collision leaves elderly pedestrian critical

An elderly man is fighting for his life after he was struck by a vehicle in the Tongaat CBD this morning at around 09h21. A report from the scene indicates that the man tried to run across the street when he was hit by a vehicle, causing the elderly man’s head to hit into the windscreen of the vehicle.

Netcare911 paramedics arrived at the scene and found the patient lying on the road at the side of the vehicle with life threatening injuries. Paramedics worked fervently to stabilise the patient at the scene, after he was placed on a ventilator and immobilised on a trauma board, they airlifted him to the Nkosi Albert Luthuli hospital for the care that he required.
