Car thieves arrested when chased down and apprehended by community memners in Paulpietersburg

On 20 September 2014 at about 09:00 Paulpietersburg Community Service Centre members received a complaint of a motor vehicle that was stolen at Welbedacht Farm. The members attended the scene and it was later discovered that the vehicle was found abandoned not far from where it was stolen.

The suspects were spotted by the community members who gave chase and apprehended them. The suspects aged 44 and 48 were also found in a possession of another stolen vehicle which was stolen in Vryheid on 17 September 2014. They will appear in the Paulpietersburg Magistrates’ Court tomorrow, 29 September 2014.

The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni commended the community members for the role they played in the arrest of the perpetrators. . “This is the kind of partnership we desire from our communities, if we can strengthen it we can win the battle against criminals in this province,” she said.
