Germiston pedestrian crash leaves 5-year-old boy critical

Netcare helicopter pedestrian crash

A five-year-old boy is in a critical condition following a pedestrian accident on Rondebult Road near Heidelberg Road in Germiston this morning.

Exact detail surrounding the accident and preceding events remains the subject of a police investigation.

Reports from the scene however, indicate that the boy was crossing the road to meet a waiting vehicle on the opposite side of the road.

While crossing the road the boy was knocked over by a light delivery vehicle, where Netcare 911 paramedics found the critically injured boy laying on the roadway upon their arrival on scene.

The Netcare1 helicopter was activated to airlift the critically injured boy to hospital for the urgent medical care that he required.

Traffic in the area was severely affected by the accident and also while the helicopter came in to land to load the injured boy.
