Netcare 911 paramedics and other services responded to an accident on the R102 near Mandini this evening.
Upon their arrival on scene they found the crumpled remains of a minibus and light motor vehicle that had collided head-on.
After assessment of all the occupants of the two vehicles they found that the three occupants of the motor vehicle had tragically lost their lives during the accident. Eight people from the minibus were found to have sustained injuries ranging from serious to critical.
One of the occupants of the minibus also tragically died during the accident.
A critically injured occupant of the minibus was entrapped in the vehicle and services had to make use of the Jaws of Life to extricate the injured patient from the minibus.
The eight injured patients were treated on scene and transported to hospital for further medical care.
The three deceased occupants of the motor vehicle had to be extricated from the vehicle two.
Traffic was severely affected following the accident.
