Launch of SAPS Operation Duty Calls Festive Season Crime-Fighting campaign

The official launch of the annual South African Police Service (SAPS) Operation Duty Calls Festive Season Crime-Fighting campaign, a national crime fighting operational plan aimed at making South Africa a safe place during the festive season will be taking place on 23 October 2014 in Wembezi, KwaZulu-Natal.

This year’s launch will coincide with the Justice and Crime Prevention Security Cluster (JCPS) Community outreach revisit to the community of Wembezi Community outreach visit.

Minister of Police Nkosinathi Nhleko, Deputy Minister of Police Maggie Sotyu and the Police National Commissioner General Riah Phiyega will lead the launch proceedings that will be taking place in two phases.

The first phase will comprise of a visit to crime hotspots in the area and a media conference. The second and final phase comprise of the formal proceedings, which will include the delivery of a keynote address by Minister Nhleko, as well as messages of support by the Deputy Minister and the National Commissioner.
