Chatsworth alleged drug merchant nabbed

With the persistence of the Durban Flying Squad Narcotics Team to clean up Chatsworth area of drugs, they arrested a 22-year-old male for possession of drugs. Yesterday, 17 November 2014 at about 15:30, the Narcotics Team arrested a suspect while he was driving along Unity Avenue after he was searched and found with 203 straws of heroin with the street value of R6 090.00 and cash of R1 139.00 believed to be the proceeds of drug trade.

He was then taken to Bayview Police Station for detention and charged for possession of drugs. He will appear in Chatsworth Magistrates’ Court today, 18 November 2014.

KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni highly praised the members for their continuance in fighting drug trade in Durban and its surrounding suburbs. “We will continue to arrest all criminals who are determined to destroy our community with drugs and we will make sure that they spend the Festive Season behind bars,” she said.
