Driver miraculously escapes after tree falls on car in Durban

A Durban man is lucky to be alive after a tree fell over landing on the roof of his car whilst he was driving in Bartle Road, Umbilo just after 10am today.

Rescue Care paramedics were called to the scene and expected the worst when they arrived and saw a whole tree on top of a vehicle. They found the driver lying on the roadside as passerby’s had pulled him from the wreck. He had suffered moderate injuries and needed medication for the pain he was in due to the injuries he had sustained. Once he had been stabilized on scene by Advanced Life Support paramedics he was transported to a nearby hospital for the further care that he required.

At this stage it is unclear what caused the tree to fall over however it did look very old.

Rescue Care paramedics would like to urge people not to pull people out of vehicles after accidents as this could cause further injury. Rather keep them still, keep them awake and call Rescue Care Paramedics on 0860 737 911.
