Environmental Affairs hosts Golden Gate half marathon on 15 November

The Department of Environmental Affairs (DEA) will be hosting the annual Working for Water Qwa Qwa /Golden Gate Half Marathon taking place on the 15th of November 2014, at the Golden Gate Highlands National Park.

The celebration of the Working for Water Programme half marathon is an annual event on the DEA events calendar. This year’s celebration recognises the significance of 19 years of work done by the Working for Water in the management of natural resources, alleviation of poverty, job creation and social development in the 20years of democracy in South Africa.

The marathon consists of the following races, a 21km half marathon (which has been registered as a Comrades Marathon qualification race) 11km half marathon and a 5km fun walk/run. There will be six water points between the start and finish points, the six points will be named after patrons, as well as former and current ministers.
