Police task force acting on information intercepts vehicle to foil business robbery

Members of the Durban Flying Squad, Crime Intelligence and Special Task Force received intelligence on a planned robbery in Inanda Road. An operation was put into place to intercept the targets prior to them committing any offence. Police intercepted a vehicle at the corner of Joyce and Inanda Road.

Three firearms were found in the suspect’s possession. Police seized two pistols, an AK47 rifle and twenty two live rounds of ammunition. Five suspects aged between 23 and 34 were arrested during the operation. The recovered firearms will be submitted for ballistics tests to ascertain if they were used in the commission any crime in the country.

The KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni praised the police officers for the swift arrest of the suspects.
