Collision on the N3 near the Marrian Hill toll plaza leaves child critical, three others injured

A collision on the N3 near the Marrian Hill toll plaza in KwaZulu Natal has left a child in a critical condition and three others moderatly injured this afternoon.

ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on scene and found the road blocked by two wrecked vehicles that lay in the middle of the road. One of the vehicles, a bakkie, lay on its side.

Paramedics assessed the scene and found the driver of the bakkie trapped behind the steering wheel while the other occupants lay near the vehicle. The yound child lay roughly five metres from the bakkie in a critical condition.

Paramedics begain their treatment of the patients while providing the child with advanced life support due to her severe injuries. Once treated, the patients were transported to Rk Kahn and Albert Luthuli Hospital for urgent medical treatment.

The cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
