Early morning collision leaves 1 dead, 3 injured Durban

One man has lost his life after the vehicle he was in collided with a truck around 3am this morning at the N2 and M7 intersection.

Rescue Care paramedics arrived to find that a vehicle had collided with a truck in the intersection. The truck then lost control and veered across the centre medium across the west bound carriage way. Fortunately it did not collide with any other vehicle. Rescue Care paramedics found that the car had four occupants. Two were entrapped and the Fire Department had to use the jaws of life as well as other hydraulic equipment to free them. One passenger had sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead on the scene by paramedics. The driver and two others had sustained serious injuries and were stabilized on the scene by Advanced Life Support paramedics before being transported to a nearby hospital for the further care that they required.

At this stage it is unclear what caused the collision however SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further
