Elderly woman killed in Jagersfontein collision

An elderly woman was killed and another sustained several injuries when the vehicle they were traveling in collided with a tree along the Jagersfontein road approximately 15 kilometres outside of Bloemfontein.

Paramedics that arrived on the scene found the vehicle on the side of the road with severe damage to the front. The two women, one her 70’s and the other in her 40’s, was still in the front of the vehicle. The elderly woman was in a critical condition and rushed off to Life Rosepark Hospital for stabilisation. Sadly she later succumbed to her injuries.

The driver of the vehicle, believed to be the daughter of the deceased, sustained possible chest and spinal injuries. Paramedics transported her to Pelonomi Hospital in Bloemfontein for further treatment.

It is understood that they were on their way back from Jagersfontein when the collision occurred. The exact cause of the collision is still to be investigated.
