A woman has been killed and 15 others injured when a taxi collided with another vehicle at the Nugget and President Road intersection in Johannesburg CBD.
When ER24 paramedics arrived on scene, they found the intersection blocked by heavy traffic. A wrecked taxi lay on its side while another vehicle lay crushed up against a shop wall.
On assessment, paramedics discovered that a woman lay in the passenger seat of the vehicle. Unfortunately she had already succumbed to her severe injuries.
15 other occupants from both vehicles lay around the scene, their injuries ranging from minor to critical.
Paramedics set out treating the patients while Metro services closed off the intersection.
Once all the patients were treated, they were transported to nearby hospitals for further treatment.
The cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
