One killed, five injured after three vehicles collided on the N12 near Fochville

A man in his 50s was killed and five others injured late last night after three vehicles collided on the N12 near Fochville, North West.

ER24 paramedics arrived on scene and found three wrecked vehicles on scene. One of the vehicles, a tranporter, lay on its roof while the other two bakkies were on either side of the road. The occupants of the transported had already crawled out from their vehicle and were waiting for paramedics.

On inspection of the scene, paramedics discovered that one man lay trapped inside his crumpled bakkie. Unfortunately the man had already succumbed to his severe injuries.

Four other occupants from the transporter and second bakkie had sustained moderate injuries while the fifth lay in a critical condition.

Paramedics set out treating the patients while providing the critically injured patient with advanced life support.

Once treated, all the patients were transported to Mediclinic Potchefstroom for further treatment.

The cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
