Seventeen people were injured following an accident on Central Street near Ninth Avenue in Houghton Estate, Johannesburg this afternoon.
Exact detail surrounding the cause of the accident and preceding events are unknown at this stage and will remain the subject of a police investigation.
Reports from the scene however indicate that a minibus rear-ended a motor vehicle, causing it to leave the roadway and crashed against a wall on the side of the road.
Upon assessment of all the occupants it was found that sixteen people from the minibus were injured and one occupant of the motor vehicle sustained injury during the accident.
The injured patients were treated on scene before they were transported to hospital for further medical care.
Traffic was severely affected as a result of the accident.
