Six people were injured, one critically so, after an accident on the N2 between Hibberdene and Umtentweni this afternoon. Exact detail to the cause of the accident and preceding events will remain a subject for police investigation and comment.
Netcare 911 paramedics, police search and rescue, fire and other ambulance services arrived at the scene and found the roadway obstructed with accident debris and the twisted frames of the vehicles. After triaging the injured they found that a four – year – old boy had sustained critical injuries, three people sustained serious injuries while two escaped with minor injuries.
After the injured were treated at the scene paramedics airlifted the boy to the Nkosi Albert Luthuli hospital while the other patient was transported to local hospitals for the care that they required.
