8 injured in two road crashes in Malvern on New Years Eve

Eight people have sustained various injuries in two separate accidents within two hours of each other in the Malvern area last night.

In the first accident Rescue Care paramedics were called to Ridley Park Road near River Drive around 06:30pm for a collision involving two cars. On arrival paramedics found that two vehicles had collided in the roadway. A total of five people had sustained various injuries and were stabilized on scene before being transported to various Durban hospitals for the further care that they required.

As Rescue Care paramedics had just finished this incident they were yet again called to Malvern area for a serious collision on the corner of Stella Road and Valley View Road just before 8pm. Rescue Care paramedics arrived to find that two vehicles had collided in the intersection in a T bone format. A total of three people had sustained various injuries and Advanced Life Support intervention was required to stabilize two of the injured. Once all the injured had been stabilized they were transported to various Durban Hospitals for the further care that they required.

At this stage it is unclear what caused these collisions however the necessary authorities were on the scene and will be investigating further.
