KZN Transport MEC commends active & visible traffic policing

MEC Willies Mchunu, has commended traffic officers for their visibility over the festive season, which helped curb road accidents in the province.

Speaking at a road block held at Marianhill this week, Mchunu said the deployment of traffic officers particularly to hot spots ensured the safety of motorists and saw offenders being brought to book.
At the road-blocks, motorists were charged with traffic offences ranging from expired discs, vehicles without number plates, worn-out tyres, as well as drivers without licences and professional

driving permits (PDP).

“What pleases even more is seeing that among the law enforcement officers deployed there were also students from our traffic training college. This was good exposure for them to the road environment. I am informed that this year they will be doing more practicals, patrolling our roads. This is a positive for us as this will improve visibility of traffic officers on the road,” Mchunu said.
