At around 12:40 today EMER-G-MED received a call for a multi-vehicle accident on the corners of Heidelberg and Price Rocher in Kaserno in the South of Joburg.
On arrival paramedics found two trucks, a taxi and a car were involved. It is alleged that a truck carrying sand lost control coming down an embankment and rolled on top of a vehicle.
Three patients were entrapped, it took over two hours to free the patients from the underneath the sand and metal.
Tragically two of the patients in the vehicle had succumbed to their injuries.
Ten people were transported to various hospitals for further treatment, seven were transported by EMER-G-MED.
