Fourteen people were injured after two taxis and a car collided at the intersection of Otto Volek and Stapleton Roads in New Germany, Pinetown this afternoon at around 16h26. Exact detail to the cause of the accident and preceding event is still speculative, however one of the taxi’s overturned on impact coming to rest on its roof.
Netcare 911 paramedics arrived at the scene and found the intersection obstructed with accident debris and the twisted remains of the vehicles. After triaging it was established that four taxi commuters sustained serious injuries while ten miraculously escaped with minor injuries all of them from the overturned vehicle.
After the injured were treated at the scene paramedics transported them to various hospitals in the area for the specialised care that they required.
