Roodepoort Helderkruin road crash leaves five people injured

Five people were injured following an accident on Ouklip Road near Ruhamah Drive in Helderkruin, Roodepoort this afternoon after 16h30.

Netcare 911 paramedics and other services arrived at the scene and found that a Toyota Fortuner and a delivery vehicle were involved.

The Toyota Fortuner was knocked on its side by the delivery vehicle, which resulted in the Fortuner to overturn, coming to a standstill on the driver’s side of the vehicle. The delivery vehicle left the roadway and crashed through a residential wall resulting in the delivery vehicle coming to a standstill inside the property.

Upon assessment of all the occupants they found that five people sustained serious injuries. The driver of the delivery vehicle was entrapped in the vehicle and Netcare 911’s Rescue unit assisted the fire department with the extrication of the entrapped man.

After receiving treatment on scene all the patients were transported to hospital for further medical care.

Exact detail surrounding the cause of the accident and preceding events are still unclear at this stage and will remain the subject of a police investigation.
