Seven people have sustained various injuries after a collision with a tree on Berea Road before Essenwood Road around 2pm today.
Rescue Care paramedics arrived on scene to find that a taxi had left the roadway and collided with a tree. Paramedics found all of the passengers lying on the sidewalk. A quick assessment revealed that six passengers and the driver had sustained injuries. Once all of the injured had been stabilized on scene they were transported to various Durban hospitals for the further care that they required.
At this stage it is unclear what caused the single vehicle to veer off the road however Metro Police were in attendance and will be investigating further.
