26 injured in early morning accident Pinetown

Twenty six people have been injured this morning after two taxis collided on Underwood Road in Pinetown just before 7am.

Rescue Care and Meditech paramedics arrived on the scene to find the two taxis had collided in a head on style at the junction of Underwood Road and Marian Road. Multiple patients were found lying on the sidewalk whilst one passenger was entrapped in the front seat of the vehicle. Hydraulic equipment was used to free the seriously injured female from the wreckage. A total of twenty six people had sustained various injuries and were all stabilized on the scene before being transported to various Durban Hospitals for the further care that they required.

At this stage it is unclear what caused the collision however SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.
