Bus driver dismissed after report in social media of reckless driving

Earlier in February we shared a story on the Arrive Alive website titled “Bus company takes disciplinary action after receiving report of illegal overtaking by driver” This followed the posting of a tweet on illegal driving on the Arrive Alive Twitter handle at @_ArriveAlive

We have since received the following update:

“Good Day Jonathan

I am writing as a follow up to the incident of reckless driving that you reported to us earlier this month.

As per my previous mail, a disciplinary hearing was convened and the driver charged with reckless and negligent driving, exceeding the speed limit and of acting in a manner that brings the Company’s name into disrepute.

As a result of the documentary evidence that you provided as well as tracking reports from our internal systems, the driver was found guilty on all charges and summararily dismissed.

We hope this will reinforce the message to our Employees that behaviour that puts the lives of our passengers and the lives of other road users at risk, will not be tolerated with the Company.

We thank you once again for your effort in bringing this incident to our attention.

Thanks and Regards

Asma Moolla

H. R. Manager”
