Childhood Cancer Foundation South Africa [CHOC] surprised by Toyota

Knights Chairman handsover keys to CHOC - National Knights Chairman, Martin Erwee handsover the Toyota Avanza to Adri Ludick and Carl Queiros from CHOC.

The Toyota Knights, an elite group of Toyota salespeople, donated a new Avanza to CHOC – Childhood Cancer Foundation South Africa – in February.

The Toyota Knights started out in 1985 as an elite group of top performing salespeople and developed into a group whose focus now includes improving oneself, giving back to the community and motivating others in their quest to be the best. The Knights also make a significant contribution to the viability, by way of profitability, to their dealerships.

Their responsibilities and duties are to set the example in being balanced professionals in their working environment, community, as well as in social and environmental activities.

“We are committed to the charities that we choose to support. As a Toyota Knight, giving back to the community is part of our nature. We held many fundraising events throughout the year to both raise the profile of Choc as well as raise funds. Our events were well supported by the Knights and their friends and families alike,” says Martin Erwee, National Knights Chairperson.

Every year the North and Central regional Knights choose a charity to benefit from their fundraising efforts. This year, CHOC was chosen as the charity of choice. CHOC is a non-profit organisation that supports communities in the treatment of children with cancer and advocates complete and early diagnosis.

“We are so grateful to the Toyota Knights for this generous donation. This car will save lives. It allows us to transport cancer patients to and from the treatment facilities and ensure that we can assist with accommodation. We look forward to a lasting relationship with the Knights. We hope you continue to make a difference in your communities,” says Carl Queiros, CEO of CHOC.

In a surprise turn of events, Toyota South Africa Motors donated a second vehicle to CHOC.

“In support of the great work that the Knights have done, it is with great pleasure that we donate a second vehicle to CHOC. The Knights have shown great commitment to the cause through relentless dedication and hard work. We salute the Toyota Knights! We hope that the second vehicle will make an even bigger difference in the lives of the children CHOC supports,” concludes Calvyn Hamman, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Toyota South Africa Motors.
