Hijacked truck recovered and stolen items recovered Khayelitsha

On (2015-02-17) at approximately 10:00 Harare police detectives were conducting their investigation duties at 44 block Makhaza, Khayelitsha. As they drove in Gximfiza street they noticed a white delivery truck offloading boxes at a particular house. They became suspicious and stopped to enquire. As soon as the suspects, approximately five (5), noticed that it was police officials in private attire, they fled the scene on foot.

The owner of the house who was amongst the suspects could not escape and was immediately arrested. Police recovered 177 boxes of branded clothing, hair products, footgear, perfumes and sprays as well as another 88 boxes containing various cellphones and Ipads.

The estimated value of the items recovered is three and a half million (3500, 000). It was later realized that the delivery truck was earlier hijacked in Philippi area in Nyanga, Cape Town. A 44 year old suspect was arrested and detained at harare SAPS for possession of stolen property. He is expected to appear in Khayelitsha magistrate court as soon as he is charged.

Harare Station Commander Colonel Joseph Raboliba applauded the members for the good work and further encouraged them to be more vigilant when they are conducting their day to day duties.
