Muizenberg SAPS makes dagga arrest in Philippi

On Tuesday (2015-02-03) members attached to Muizenberg SAPS responded to information of alleged illegal drug activities and proceeded to Philippi to investigate further.

On arrival at about 06:30 the SAPS members entered a smallholding at Oasis Farms where they found a Dagga plantation, comprising a substantial amount of plants of different sizes, in an enclosure on the premises.

Thereafter they entered a two roomed building in which they uncovered a hydroponic dagga laboratory. Various items of equipment including lights, fans, timers and also dagga seedlings and dried dagga were seized. All the dagga and equipment recovered was valued at a significant amount.

The owner of the premises, a 37-year-old man was arrested and is expected to appear in Wynberg Magistrates Court once he has been charged.
