Suspects escape after they are discovered stripping a stolen vehicle

Craighall Park: On Monday 22-02-2015 just after midnight, Parkview SAPS members were on patrol when they drove into the roof top parking lot of a local shopping centre at Craighall Park, Johannesburg and disturbed four suspects who were busy stripping a stolen vehicle.

The members suddenly spotted two vehicles (Toyota Hilux bakkie and Audi A4) parked side by side with doors opened both without registration plates. One of the suspects then opened fire towards the police, they returned fire but suspects managed to get away leaving behind the bakkie.

Subsequent investigations revealed that the vehicle had been stolen earlier at a garage in the south of Johannesburg. It still had the selling price tag, the vehicle was possibly being stripped in an effort to locate and remove the tracking unit.

Investigations are underway no arrests have been made at this stage.
