KZN Gcilima road crash leaves two injured

Two men were lucky to have escaped with their lives after the vehicle they were travelling in crashed against a barrier in Gcilima, near Southbroom on the KZN south coast this afternoon.

Netcare 911 paramedics and the fire department arrived at the scene and found that the vehicle had literally split in two following the impact of the crash. Fire department had to make use of the Jaws of Life to extricate the entrapped passenger from the vehicle. The extrication took approximately forty-five minutes.

Upon assessment of the two occupants they found that one man was in a critical condition and one man sustained serious injuries during the crash. Both men were treated at the scene and transported to hospital for further medical care.

Exact detail surrounding the cause of the crash and preceding events are unknown and will remain the subject of a police investigation.

Traffic was affected as result of the accident.
