A man was killed this morning after his truck overturned on Houtbay Main Road in Hout Bay, Western Cape.
ER24 paramedics arrived on scene and found the large tipper truck on its side wedged up against a large tree.
On assessment, paramedics discovered the male driver trapped inside the cab of the vehicle.
Metro Rescue services had to use the jaws-of-life equipment to free the man in a one hour operation.
Once freed from the vehicle, paramedics found that the patient showed no signs of life and required advanced life support. Paramedics began CPR, unfortunately after 20 minutes, no signs of life returned and the patient was declared dead.
The cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
