Three people have lost their lives following a crash on Francis Baard Street near Grosvernor Street in Hatfield, Pretoria this morning at around 02h00.
Netcare 911 paramedics and other services arrived at the scene and found that a motor vehicle and minibus had collided resulting in the minibus overturning and coming a rest on its side. The motor vehicle and minibus had sustained severe damage to the front area of the vehicles.
Two men were ejected from the vehicles and upon assessment, paramedics found that both men had tragically lost their lives prior to their arrival at the scene. There was nothing further that could be done for the two men and they were declared dead at the scene.
A woman entrapped inside the motor vehicle were found to have sustained critical injuries and the Fire Department had to make use of the Jaws of Life to extricated the entrapped woman from the vehicle. Sadly the woman’s condition deteriorated at the scene and she also died at the scene.
Exact detail surrounding the cause of the crash and preceding events will remain the subject of a police investigation.
