Suspect arrested and property stolen from vehicle recovered by SAPS

Early this morning, Mount Road sector managers arrested one suspect (27) for possession of suspected stolen property and Theft out of motor vehicle.

The members were busy with patrols in the area of North End when they identified a suspect pushing a trolley. The members approached the suspect and enquired regarding the property he was pushing on the trolley. The suspect claimed it was given to them by a church in North End. Upon further investigation the members found a sound amplifier to the value of R4500,00.

The members followed up on the information and traced the owner who confirmed that he had an amplifier in a box in his motor vehicle. The complainant went to the vehicle and noticed that the amplifier was stolen.

The suspect was arrested and detained on charges of Possession of suspected Stolen Property. A case of Theft out of a motorvehicle was also opened and it will form part of the investigation. The suspect will appear in the Port Elizabeth New Law Courts on Monday 16 March 2015.
