A driver has been left injured after the vehicle he was in lost control and rolled on Sydney Road just after Bayhead Road just after 6am this morning.
Rescue Care paramedics arrived on scene to find a tanker carrying cooking oil had lost control and overturned spilling part of its load across the entire roadway. The driver managed to get out of the wreckage before paramedics arrived and was found on the sidewalk having sustained moderate injuries. They immediately began stabilizing the injured driver and placed him on specialized equipment before transporting him to a nearby private hospital for the further care that he required.
The road was closed due to the spillage of oil from the tanker which caused severe traffic congestion.
It is unclear what caused the collision however SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.
