Bakkie overturns, injuring two
Two men were injured this morning after their bakkie and trailer overturned on the N3 in Balgowen in Pietermaritzburg.

When paramedics from the ER24 Pietermaritzburg branch arrived on scene, they found the overturned bakkie and trailer lying in the drainage ditch next to the highway. Two men lay next to the overturned vehicle while two other men were found standing next to their colleagues.

On assessment, paramedics discovered that both men that had been sitting on the back of the bakkie were ejected when the vehicle overturned. One of the men had sustained minor injuries while the second had sustained moderate injuries including injuries to his legs and head.

Both patients were treated for their injuries and thereafter transported to Northdale Hospital for further medical treatment.

Two men that had been inside the bakkie when it overturned fortunately escaped without injury.

It is believed that the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn.

Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
