One man lost his life and another man was injured following an accident on Hewitt Avenue in Selection Park, Springs this morning at around 01h30.
Netcare 911 paramedics and other services arrived at the scene and found that a heavy goods vehicle and light delivery vehicle were involved in the accident.
Exact detail surrounding the cause of the accident and preceding events are still unknown and will remain the subject of a police investigation.
Upon assessment of all the occupants, paramedics found that a twenty-eight-year-old man was in a critical condition entrapped in the light delivery vehicle. The fire department made use of the Jaws of Life to extricate the man from his vehicle. His condition deteriorated rapidly and tragically the man died as a result of the extensive injuries sustained during the crash. There was nothing further that paramedics could do for the man and he was sadly declared dead at the scene.
The male driver of the heavy goods vehicle sustained moderate injuries during the accident.
