Eleven injured in taxi collision

Eleven people were injured this evening after a taxi collision on the Old Albert Wessels Road in Newcastle, KwaZulu Natal.

ER24 paramedics arrived on scene and found the the taxi parked in the veld near the roadside. A bicycle lay on the pavement a few metres away from the taxi.

On assessment, paramedics discovered that eleven people had sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate. One of the injured was a cyclist who was knocked off his bike moments before the collision.

Paramedics treated the patients for their injuries and thereafter transported them to Madadeni Hospital for further observations.

It is understood that the driver of the taxi had lost control of his vehicle, causing him to colllide with the cyclist and eventually come to rest on the side of the road.
