Nineteen people were injured after a taxi and a car collided near the Gamalake traffic lights on the KZN south coast this morning. Reports indicate that the taxi veered off the road and came to rest on an embankment after the impact.
Exact detail to the cause of the accident however is still speculative and will remain a subject for police investigation and comment.
Netcare 911 paramedics and other services arrived at the scene and found the injured at the side of the roadway. After triaging the patients, it was found that ten people sustained serious injuries while nine escaped with minor injuries. After medics treated the injured at the scene, they transported them to various hospitals for the care that they required.
