Goodyear Road Safety Advice for Easter Holidays: No fooling around… It is all about the “CORRECT PRESSURE”.

The “correct pressure” – tyre pressure – could spare the tyre and the rand.

The pressure of “road safety” and the “rand” is usually factored in when planning a holiday trip.  Goodyear advises that focusing on the “correct pressure” – tyre pressure – could spare the tyre and the rand.

Tyre pressure should be checked regularly – at least once a month – but especially before travelling long distance with a fully loaded car.

Driving a tyre that is simply 20 percent under-inflated could increase your fuel consumption by as much as 10 percent.

“An under-inflated tyre uses more energy, increases rolling resistance and robs the vehicle of fuel efficiency.  With today’s fuel prices, 10 percent is a considerable amount to save, by something as simple as using the correct tyre pressure.  Checking your tyre pressure could also save a life,” shares Goodyear’s Sales Director, Harry Dahl.

For a safe journey, we always encourage motorists to have their vehicles and tyres inspected at a professional tyre and service outlet.  Of those available, Hi-Q has an extensive national footprint in both big cities and small towns and offers a variety of safety checks on vehicles.  This entails checking all four tyres plus the spare for tread depth and pressure, the front and rear shock absorbers, the brake pads, discs and fluid, as well as the battery, exhaust and wiper blades.  Should any of the vehicle checks highlight a warning or faulty part, the technician will recommend the correct course of action.
