Groutville RTI pledges to adhere to strict traffic enforcement

Acting Groutville RTI Station Commander Sanjeeth Nundlall is still elated that the station he leads has been named as the best RTI station in the entire province.

Groutville scooped first prize for being the Most Outstanding Station at the RTI Awards held in Durban recently.

Nundlall believes that working as a team, dedication to their work as well as compliance and visibility on the road played a major role in their station getting this prestigious award.

“I believe that our hard work has paid off and this encourages us to push even harder in order to save lives and maintain our standard of zero accidents on the N2 north of Durban,” Nundlall said.

He further said that various initiatives undertaken by the station, including partnering with external role players had positive impact on their operations on the road.

“The Departments of Justice and Health assist with their skills whenever the station has roadblocks. Two doctors assist with taking blood samples from drivers and they get charged on the spot. We are also assisted by the clerk of the court who collects monies from drivers who are found to have warrants of arrest. This saves a lot of time and all these role players do this voluntarily,” he said.

Over the years the station, which has only 21 officers, has been leading with road transgressions arrests targeting the N2 North of Durban.

“We are proud that we have made history by being the first station to receive the Service Excellence/Most Outstanding station recognition in the first year of the RTI awards. This award has inspired us to work even harder with the hope of getting more awards in the future,” he concluded.
