N3 key Ridge accident leaves three injured

Three people were injured in a head-on collision on the N3 Durban bound at Key Ridge near the M13 off ramp this morning. A report from the scene indicates that a vehicle traveling towards PMB veered across the centre median and collided head on with the other vehicle.

Netcare 911 paramedics the fire service and Netcare rescue unit arrived at the scene and found the roadway littered with accident debris and the twisted frames of the vehicles, two patients from the one car was still trapped in the twisted metal while the driver of the other car was found at the side of the roadway.

While the rescue officers used the Jaws of Life to free the injured paramedics had to clamber into the wreckage to stabilise them. After the people were extricated and deftly immobilised at the scene, medics transported them to various hospitals for the care that they required.
