Police flying squad arrests suspects in possession of illegal cigarettes

Members of the Pretoria Flying Squad arrested four suspects after they were found in possession of illegal cigarettes.

It is alleged that last night at about 23h49 the members received a complaint of two vehicles driving recklessly on Church Street. The members rushed to the scene, where they observed two vehicles, white Toyota double and single cabs were driving at high speed.

The vehicles drove over a stop sign and the members pulled them off.

Upon searching the two vehicles, they found 2302 cartons of Chelsea cigarettes which were allegedly destined for Midrand from Mokopane.

Further investigation revealed that both vehicles were reported stolen in Bracken downs and Haartebeespoort this month and last month respectively. The four suspects will appear in the Atteridgeville Magistrates court on charges of possession of illegal cigarettes and possession of suspected stolen motor vehicles.
